Privacy Policy

CalcLoan ("we", "us") runs the website calcloan.co.za. We built this site to be private by default. You do not need an account, and we never ask you for your name, ID number, phone number, or any personal or financial details to use the calculators.
This policy explains, in plain language, the small amount of information that is handled when you visit, and your rights under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
1. Information you type into the calculators
The loan amounts, interest rates and terms you enter are processed entirely in your browser to work out the results. They are not sent to our servers and we cannot see them. So that a return visit can pick up where you left off, your last scenario (loan amount, rate, term and deposit — numbers only, no personal details) is saved in your browser's own local storage on your device. You can clear it any time by clearing your browser data.
2. Analytics
We use Umami, an open-source analytics tool that we run on our own server. It is cookieless and does not track you across other websites or build a profile of you. It records anonymous, aggregate information such as page views, country/region, browser type, and which calculators are used. This runs only on the live site. We do not use Google Analytics or any other third-party tracker.
3. Cookies and local storage
We do not use tracking cookies. We use your browser's local storage only for your last calculator scenario and your light/dark theme preference. These stay on your device and are never sent to us.
4. Website hosting and logs
Our site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like all web hosts, Cloudflare automatically processes technical information such as your IP address and browser request in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. This is standard hosting activity — see Cloudflare's own privacy policy for details.
5. Links to other websites (including affiliate links)
Some pages link to third parties such as banks, lenders or comparison services. Some of these are affiliate links — if you click through and take up a product, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. We label these clearly on the page. Once you click a link and leave our site, the other company's privacy policy and cookies apply, not ours, and they may track you independently. We have no control over how they use your information. Affiliate arrangements never change the numbers our calculators produce. See our affiliate disclosure.
6. What we do NOT do
We do not: ask for or store personal information; create user accounts; sell or rent data; run a mailing list from this site; or take payments.
7. Your POPIA rights
You have the right to ask what information we hold, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to processing. Because we don't collect personal details, there is usually nothing for us to hold — but if you have a question, contact us below. You may also complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforegulator.org.za.
